    Arunachal Pradesh has reported its first positive case of the novel coronavirus

    Arunachal Pradesh has reported its first positive case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on April 2nd, 2020.

    The 31-year-old person, who tested positive, had attended the religious convention of Tablighi Jamaat from March 1st-15th, 2020, in the Nizamuddin West area in Delhi.

    Chief Minister Pema Khandu tweeted,”At present he is asymptomatic & kept in isolation. His condition is stable.”

    As per The Arunachal Times, seven people from the State had attended the Nizamuddin Markaz event. The seven persons have been kept in quarantine – six in Namsai and one in Lohit.

    Their samples have been collected and sent to Dibrugarh district of Assam on April 1st, 2020.

    Around 2,000 people from different parts of the country and Asia attended the religion convention by the Islamic preachers held by the Tabligh-e-Jamaat in Delhi.

    The Arunachal Pradesh government has asked all those who attended the meeting at Markaz to voluntarily inform the health officials and visit the nearest hospital.

    The Delhi Police has cordoned off the area around the Markaz Masjid located around 100 metres from the Nizamuddin dargah. The area has now emerged as the biggest coronavirus hotspot in India.
