    Another Zoo Coming Up In Assam Soon!

    The zoo will reportedly be constructed covering 200 hectares of land

    In a major boost to the state tourism and move to sustain the wildlife habitat, Assam is soon going to have its second zoo-cum-rehabilitation centre in the southern region of Assam, Barak Valley.

    A team from Delhi reached the state on October 1st, 2019 and met the state forest officials. The expert team inspected the site for the proposed zoo-cum-wildlife-rehabilitation-centre at Rajnikhal under Dholai constituency in Cachar district on October 2nd, 2019.

    The zoo will reportedly be constructed covering 200 hectares of land. The team on Wednesday chalked out plans related to land profile, path for tiger and elephant safari, placement of cages, towers, separate zones for herbivorous and carnivorous animals, birds and accommodation of the zoo workers.

    It has been expected that this zoo will further take the state tourism to a new level while generating income for the unemployed.

    It may be mentioned that Assam forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya has been pushing for setting up of another zoo in the state had recently inspected the site for the project.

    During the inspection, former principal conservator of forests, Bengal, Brij Raj Sharma, Cachar district forest officer Sunny Deo Choudhury, head of the department of ecology and environmental science, Assam University, Parthankar Choudhury, and Dholai forest ranger Mujibur Rahman Choudhury were present among others.
