We millennials love taking selfies in new places or when we meet our friends and family. And with smartphones in our hands, it has become easy to click a selfie on the go.
But clicking selfies at certain places comes with a price. One such incident occurred in Morigaon’s Mikirbheta Police Station on September 26th, 2019 and the price was paid by the home guard who was on duty during ‘the photo op’.
The incident occurred in the afternoon hours of September 26th, 2019 when the police arrested one Asadur Rahman based on a complaint filed by his wife. While Asadur was in the police station, his friends visited him, clicked group selfies with him and later uploaded the same on Facebook.
Speaking to Time8, Swapnaneel Deka, Superintendent of Morigaon said, “As soon as we got to know about the incident, we initiated an enquiry into the matter and the home guard was suspended from his duty.”
The Morigaon Police also took to Twitter to send across the message that a police station is not a place for clicking selfies. “Someone tried to upload group selfie with an accused from Police Station office. Taken to task case initiated against the persons. Departmental action initiated against the officials found wanting in their duties,” reads the tweet.
