A 77-year-old man from the neighboring country of Bangladesh breathed his last at a Barpeta hospital on October 13th, 2019. The old man identified as Mohammad Mia Chand was on an Assam tour with his wife Joy Bhanu who had reached the state on September 16th, 2019 last.
As per reports, Chand and his wife residents of Kurigram district in Northern Bangladesh first reached the South Salmara- Mankachar district of Assam which shares the international border with the neighboring country and from there they took shelter at one of their relative’s house in Barpeta district.
Things were fine until October 13th, 2019 when the husband and wife visited one Harbesh Ali for a dinner and Chand’s health started to deteriorate since midnight. Although he was rushed to the hospital for a check-up he died on the way due to High BP.
Post the incident Chand’s relative informed the district police and subsequently the South Salmara- Mankachar district administration was intimated about the incident. With the help of the Bangladesh counterparts, the mortal remains of the man was sent back to his respective village.
Post the incident a pall of gloom had descended in the region.
