In a major breakthrough for the Assam Police, six minor boys preparing to join the militant outfit United Liberation Front of Assam, Independent (ULFA-I) were apprehended by Bordumsa Police Station in Tinsukia district of Assam.
The students hail from Ritu Kathalguri, Kujupather and Miholiritu areas of Bordumsa. They were studying in a school under Bordumsa Police Station in Tinsukia.
As per the police, the students were preparing to join the rebel outfit soon after completing their final examination which they were taking. They were arrested on December 26th, 2019.
The police informed that the youths were planning to leave the state for formal entry into the ULFA-I and training in January. The students were contacted through social media. Two ULFA-I flags were also recovered from their possession.
The locals said that the boys hail from downtrodden families and were struggling for basic amenities in life.
Based on a suo motu case registered u/s 13 UP Act, the arrested boys were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, Tinsukia on December 27th, 2019.
