    5 Dead After Coal Truck Crashes In Digboi; Pradyut Bordoloi Smells A Rat

    Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi who has been vocal against rampant illegal coal mining in the state offered his condolences

    As many as five persons have been reported dead and over ten sustained severe injuries after a Tata Magic with passengers on board collided with a speeding coal-laden truck near Pawoi area in Upper Assam’s Digboi town on the intervening night of November 24th-25th,2019.

    As per initial reports, the Tata Magic was carrying passengers of a wedding party. The injured have been rushed to the nearest hospital. Four of the deceased have been identified as Jairam Shah, Urmila Devi Sarmah, Jaleswar Giri and Bishu Das.

    Meanwhile, Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi who has been vocal against rampant illegal coal mining in the state, took to his Facebook handle and offered his condolences to the families. The Congress leader had earlier demanded an inter-ministerial fact-finding team to probe illegal coal mining in the rainforests of Upper Assam at the Parliament.

    Post the tragic accident, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also offered deep condolences to the bereaved family and ordered financial assistance to all the persons who sustained injuries.
