    4 COVID-19 Patients Discharged From Golaghat Civil Hospital

    Four novel coronavirus patients were discharged from the Golaghat Civil Hospital following their recovery

    Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that four novel coronavirus (COVID-19) patients were discharged from Golaghat Civil Hospital on April 17th, 2020.

    The four patients – Haidor Ali, Wahida Begum, Yakub Ali and Ruma Begum – tested negative in four successive tests. They have been sent to 14 days’ home quarantine.

    Taking to Twitter, Sarma, “At Golaghat Civil Hospital along with Min @ATULBORA2, MoS @Pijush_hazarika, CEM, #[email protected] monitored discharge of 4 #Covid_19 patients – Haidor Ali, Wahida Begum, Yakub Ali & Ruma Begum for home quarantine, after 4 successive negative tests. Total cured patients.”

    Till date, Assam has reported 34 coronavirus cases – nine from Golaghat, six from Morigaon, four each from Nalbari, Goalpara, Dhubri, and one each from South Salmara, Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup, Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Cachar and Hailakandi.

    Out of 34, one from Hailakandi district died on April 10th, 2020 and nine patients have recovered so far in Assam.

    Sarma said that a total of 1,456 people who attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi have been traced and quarantined. 

    The Minister also mentioned that all the cases related to the Markaz are expected to close by April 20th, 2020 in Assam.

    Meanwhile, Morigaon Deputy Commissioner Rituraj Bora, Superintendent of Police Swapnil Deka and Joint Director (Health) Rohini Borkotoky have been asked to quarantine themselves with immediate effect as they were in contact with the two persons who tested COVID-19 positive.

    Two persons of Lahorighat in Morigaon district tested positive on April 16th, 2020. Apart from the government officials, 10 journalists of the district were also sent to quarantine.

    As per media reports, the government officials and journalists took part in a programme at Bhurbandha Lahorighat area in central Assam district on March 31st, 2020 where the COVID-19 patient was also present.
