    3 More Patients Die Of Japanese Encephalitis In Assam, Death Toll Touches 107

    Guwahati: With the death of three more patients on July 21st, 2019, the death toll of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Assam touched 107, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said. The registered positive JE cases across the state also increased to 469 on July 21st, 2019.

    As per the daily NHM bulletin, two of the three JE deaths were reported from Goalpara and another one from Bongaigaon. Three of them were undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

    State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had ordered that all the doctors, ASHA workers and nurses will not get leave till the month of September 2019 and they can’t take casual leave of 15 days during this period.

    He also added that cases will be registered against those doctors and nurses who avail leave during this period and leaves will be granted in emergency situations with prior approval of the Deputy Commissioner of the district.

    Sarma also announced that financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh will be provided by the Assam government to the patients who will undergo treatment in private nursing homes.
