    3 Girls Trafficked From Meghalaya Rescued In Delhi

    Acting on a tip-off received from Supreme Court advocate, Daniel Stone Lyngdoh, SPUNER and personnel of Malviya Nagar Police Station rescued the girls

    Three girls trafficked from Meghalaya on the pretext of employment were rescued by Delhi Police Special Unit for North Eastern Region (SPUNER).

    Acting on a tip-off received from Supreme Court advocate Daniel Stone Lyngdoh, SPUNER and personnel of Malviya Nagar Police Station rescued the girls.

    The police also arrested a woman, who hails from Meghalaya, and her husband who hails from Assam for running a prostitution racket in Delhi.

    The incident came to light after a victim reported the incident to the police. Based on her statement, the SPUNER raided a location in Malviya Nagar and rescued two other girls hailing from Meghalaya.

    The first victim told police that her cousin sister brought her to Delhi on January 31st, 2020 on the pretext of providing employment and handed her to the arrested woman. The girl alleged that the arrested woman forced her into “illicit activities”.

    An FIR has been lodged at the Malviya Nagar Police Station.
