    2 Turkish Nationals Nabbed From Mumbai For ATM Frauds In Assam

    In Guwahati, 46 cases have been registered at different police stations for ATM frauds

    The sleuths of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption bureau(V&AC) jointly with the help of Mumbai police arrested two Turkish nationals from the city on charges of ATM frauds in Assam.

    The duo Idgi Imrah and Abdul Haleque are currently under the custody of Colaba police. 8-10 blank ATM cards and a laptop were recovered from their possession.

    According to Guwahati Commissioner of Police, Deepak Kumar on receipt of information of skimmer machines, spy cameras installed at ATM booths they had launched a search operation and accordingly detected the devices at three ATM booths in Guwahati—Beltola, Lachit Nagar and Hatigarh.

    “Acting on reliable information we made an analysis of all the footages of the CCTV cameras and had identified some people. We also made some sources to verify the same and with the help of the Mumbai police two Turkish nationals were arrested for ATM frauds in the city,” said Deepak Kumar.

    The police informed that the modus operandi of the duo was to enter an unguarded ATM booth and install the skimmer machine, spy camera and clone ATM cards. They withdrew the money in Mumbai.

    Kumar further informed that both of them have come to India on tourist visa, and stayed in Guwahati as well. “A lot of investigations are going on and we are keeping a hawk eye on all the activities,” added Guwahati CP.

    In Guwahati 46 cases have been registered at different police stations for ATM frauds and people have lost to the tune of Rs 16 lakh and 85,000.
