In a sensational incident, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped, murdered and hanged from a tree by seven boys, who had appeared for their Class 10 board examinations in Assam’s Biswanath district.
The barbaric and heinous incident took place on February 28th, 2020. The body of the girl was recovered on February 29th, 2020.
The seven accused, after the examination, had called the minor girl of their neighbourhood to a house on the pretext of organising a party and raped her, police said.
Later, the minor boys murdered heer and hanged her from a tree in a nearby forest in Chakla village under the jurisdiction of Gohpur police station. Post the incident, the boys were on the run.
All the boys took High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exams and were on the run after committing the crime but were nabbed by a police team. They were apprehended don March 1st, 2020 from different locations of the district.
On March 1st, 2020, a group of enraged locals gathered in front of the Gohpur Police Station and demanded justice for the minor girl. They also demanded the police to handover the nabbed boys be handed over to the public.
