    12 Security Personnel, Villagers Injured In Mob Attack In Hailakandi

    Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli has appealed the people to remain calm and not spread any rumours inflicting breach of peace

    Around 12 security personnel including the Officer-in-charge(OC) of Hailakandi Police Station(PS), locals sustained injuries after they came under attack by an irate mob while trying to save a group from lynching at Nitainagar area in Hailakandi district on the night of October 11th, 2019

    According to reports, OC Hemanta Kumar Das, Ashok Chakraborty of Hailakandi PS, Algapur PS OC Borat Chandra Kar and 2 CRPF jawans sustained serious injuries in the attack. They have been referred to Silchar Medical College for advanced treatment.

    On the fateful day a group of nine people including police constable Jamil Hussain, went to Laskarbazar weekly cattle market in Nitainagar of the district and unfortunately came under attack by a mob on suspicion of child lifters, reports said.

    On receipt of information a police team including CRPF jawans immediately rushed to the spot and tried to calm the situation but were attacked by the mob. The irate mob also set ablaze a police vehicle, situation was later controlled by additional police forces.

    Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli has appealed to the people to remain calm and not spread any rumours inflicting breach of peace.
