    10 Choirs All Set To Battle For ‘First Nagaland Choir Olympics’ On Oct 23

    The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with a trophy

    As clocks ticking, 10 choirs from different districts of the state of Nagaland is gearing up to hit the right notes as the battleground is all set on October 23rd, 2019 for the much-awaited ‘First Nagaland Choir Olympics’.

    The grand finale managed by Musicians Guild, Nagaland is held under the aegis of Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA). It will take place at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts(RCEMPA), Jotsoma.

    Chief Minister Nephiu Rio took to the microblogging site Twitter and wished the organizing team along with the participants for the upcoming event.

    “Music, in different genres, is an integral part of the life of Nagas. The “First Nagaland Choir Olympics” will be held on Oct’ 23, 2019. My best wishes to the organisers @MusicTask & Musicians Guild & also to all the participants from across #Nagaland,” (sic) Rio wrote on his Twitter.

    For the grand finale, there will be 2 rounds of performance and in every round, each of the choirs will present one song each. The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with a trophy. The runners up will get Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000.

    The choirs to enthrall the audience are: Mon Chamber Choir(Mon district), Cantamus Choir(Dimapur), Orangkong Choir(Longleng), Bridge of the Gap Chamber Choir(Wokha), Ongmesang(Mokokchung), ZTSBC Youth Choir(Zunheboto), Cantamus  Choir(Peren), Harmonic Voices(Kohima), Yimchunger Baptist Church Choir(Tuensang), The Canticles(Phek).

    Earlier the TaFMA had stated that the musical Olympics was organized to encourage choral music at a professional level in the state.
