1 Ltr Petrol & 26 Kms: Majuli Student Invents Bicycle That Runs On Fuel

The bicycle has an 80 CC 2-stroke engine which gives a mileage of 26 kilometres per litre of petrol

With the increased amounts of fines and penalties under the new Motor Vehicles Act, commuters are facing a harrowing time. At this hour of need, in the one-of-its-kind invention, a student from Assam’s Majuli has developed a bicycle which runs on fuel.

Guninda Krishna Mahanta, a student of Dibrugarh University and a resident of Bihimpur Satra, rides all the way from Dibrugarh to Majuli on his self-developed ‘motorized bicycle’. Guninda is pursuing his Masters’ degree in Physics. The bicycle has an 80 CC 2-stroke engine which gives a mileage of 26 kilometres per litre of petrol.

“After several trials and errors, I came up with this bicycle. It took a lot of patience, hard work and observation. I worked day and night with the little resources I had. I had a tool-kit which I had purchased online to build the bicycle within 15 days,” said Guninda while speaking to Time8.

Guninda who aspires to pursue Theoretical physics as a research scholar informed that the manufacturing cost of this bicycle is around Rs 21,000.
